"I am the beginning! I am the end! I am the Vanguard!"
―In-game quotation

A Vanguard

The Vanguard is the first boss encountered outside of the tutorial.

The Vanguard has a burst-firing cannon weapon and a vertical missile launcher similar to the Sparkler VLS as armaments, which rarely do much damage. Its two abilities take the form of summoning Zealots to attack the player and upon reaching critical health, repeatedly teleporting and charging the player. Its low damage means that it is often considered a pushover compared to other bosses, like the Nexus.

The Vanguard's elite variant is the Bloodguard.
